The initials ECW stand for Episcopal Church Women and includes all women in the Episcopal Church.
We are a diverse volunteer organization of women of all ages, ethnic origins, and socioeconomic backgrounds who hold a variety of views as diverse as we are. However, the common denominator in all of our members is our love of God, and the wish to do His work.
Since 1871, the National ECW has been a part of the Episcopal Church creating a legacy of women’s leadership by example in stewardship, training and education. As Episcopal Church Women in the Diocese of Georgia our purpose is to unite the women of the diocese in allegiance to our Lord, Jesus Christ, and in the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, through a program of worship, study and service which will deepen and strengthen our spiritual lives and lead us into Christian service in the parish, the community, the diocese, America and the world.
On the local level, Dublin’s ECW meets on the last Friday in the month. Some of our projects include providing a Comfort Station during the St. Patrick’s Festival for mothers to change or nurse their children during the hectic activities of Super Saturday, adopting a family or elder at Christmas to provide gifts and necessities, also hosting a Christmas cookie decorating event for children during Jingle and Mingle. Our main ongoing project is maintaining and manning a monthly food bank along with help from the First Nazarene Church and many committed individuals from Christ Church.
